Kelly Catlin

Kelly Catlin is a mother and wife who began her career as a special educator, primarily working with disadvantaged children. She has always had a penchant for the arts, but only dabbled in it in her spare time. Becoming a mother inspired Kelly to pursue other dreams, such as becoming a writer. In addition to being an author, she contributes to a variety of well-known online publications and is an SEO content creator. When she's not putting pen to paper, Kelly enjoys cooking and baking with her husband and son, as well as playing the guitar. She strongly believes in giving back to her community, shedding light on mental health awareness.

What inspired you to write the book?

In 2017, we lost a loved one, Water, a 33-year-old Veteran Marine, to suicide. Walter loved Nirvana. I wanted to do something for Walter, and this felt like the best way to give back. I'm donating at least half my profits to charity, including Camp Victory in Aberdeen, the Aberdeen Food Bank, Letters to Santa (in memory of Steve Albini), Twin Harbors Wildlife Center, Ginnie's House, Tomorrows Children's Fund, Grays Harbor Conservation District, TAPS (suicide prevention and postvention), and more... I hosted a virtual writing workshop for charity, based on this book, and donated 100% of my profits to Camp Victory. They offer free summer camp to children who are sexual abuse survivors. My book launch event is also a concert with a band playing Nirvana covers, and I'm giving 100% of my profits to Ginnie's House, a children's advocacy center. I'm also helping the Grays Harbor Conservation District to continue to preserve and maintain Kurt's Memorial Park in Aberdeen, WA.
