🎸 Trust Your Strings: Why Every Indie Musician Needs a Great Luthier 🎸

There’s nothing quite like the feel of a freshly tuned-up guitar in your hands. Whether you’re just starting your musical journey or you’re a seasoned indie warrior hitting stages every weekend, one thing is for sure—your instrument deserves proper care, and that starts with finding a great luthier.
Let’s be real—buying a guitar online has become the norm. Companies love to advertise that their instruments are “set up and ready to go” straight out of the box. However, from personal experience (and a few sketchy fret buzzes), I can tell you: nothing beats a personalized setup from a professional luthier, especially when purchasing a used instrument. A skilled luthier will tailor your guitar to your specific playing style, genre, and comfort level.
As an indie artist, time is tight. Between writing, rehearsing, recording, and doing life, tackling instrument repairs or setups myself just isn’t realistic. That’s why I turn to my trusted guy: The Orlando Luthier in Orange City, Florida. He’s a guitarist too, which means he gets it. And I’m not alone—plenty of artists in our Keltstache circle swear by him.
There are great shops out there—some big music retailers even have in-house luthiers, which is super convenient. But no matter where you go, ask around, talk to other musicians, and do your homework. Trust matters when it comes to your gear.
Pro tip? I use Reverb all the time to score great deals on used instruments, but I always bring them in for a proper checkup right after. Think of it as a tune-up for your sound—and a smart investment in your musical longevity.
So yeah, could you learn to do it yourself? Absolutely. But if you're like me and trying to keep the music flowing and the bills paid, it’s worth having someone you trust in your corner (or your workshop). 🎶
Until next time—keep your strings tight and your tone tighter.
