I've been a singer/songwriter and in bands for 30 years now and am finally hitting my creative stride with my songwriting in my power pop/rock group DUDE. I'm the lead singer/songwriter & the Fender Rhodes bassist. Why Fender Rhodes instead of a bass guitar? This ties in with my book actually.
I suffered a hemorrhagic stroke in September of 2001. I was a bass guitarist at the time having been a musician for 8+ years at that point. I thought my career as a musician had ended but then after a year and 3 months after my stroke, a friend of mine suggested I could possibly play my bass lines through a Fender Rhodes piano using the only arm and hand I could, that being my left hand.
The book and my latest full length album took me 6 years to complete. I actually finished the album in March 2020 and sat on it knowing that I'd want to release both (staggered) as a unit.
